The Nashville
Celtics Basketball Association is a basketball
club with boys’ teams in age groups
10, 12, and 14-17, with two teams in the
17 age group. The Association is a Non-Profit,
Nashville-based organization designed to
improve the lives and increase the opportunities
of young at-risk males through the vehicle
of competitive basketball. Our program,
enabled by the generous contributions of
our sponsors, and the tireless efforts of
volunteer coaches and managers, affords
many young men the opportunity to play at
a highly competitive level and grow their
many talents. In addition, the program is
committed to training young men in life-skills
so that they will know how to responsibly
take advantage of the opportunities that
their considerable basketball skills will
present to them. We appreciate the support
from all of our local sponsors as well as
our title sponsor,
Adidas,
Adidas has helped prove that basketball
is a brotherhood, and the Nashville Celtics
Basketball Association is making youth basketball
MORE THAN A GAME, A LEGACY.
The Celtics are proud
to add a second team to the 17’s age group.
The Celtics Green is composed of players
from Tennessee, Northern Alabama and Southern
Kentucky and will be coached by Dexter Williams
and Gary Orr from Huntsville, both outstanding
high school coaches with several Alabama
state championships under their belts. The
Celtics Green team was organized by Bill
Tidwell, a longtime supporter of youth basketball
in the Nashville area. Bill will be serving
as manager of the Celtics Green, and he
will be an asset to the organization on
a broader scale as we strive to be a positive
influence on the lives of our players. Adding
a second team at this level will provide
opportunities for more boys in the region
to play at the highest level of amateur
basketball.
The Nashville Predators
Foundation has awarded the Nashville Celtics
Basketball Association a grant of $1200
in support of our work in the community.
The grant process is very structured and
several hundred grant applications were
submitted. From the applicants, 88 were
selected to receive grants. We are proud
to be in such excellent company. We feel
that the selection of the Nashville Celtics
as a grant recipient is a validation of
the work that we do and the things that
we have accomplished. We are pleased that
an organization such as the Predators Foundation,
which is in the business of reviewing and
vetting charitable organizations, found
us worthy of a grant. We must be doing something
right. We know that the boys are successful
on the basketball court, and we think that
we are making a positive difference in their
lives. We hope that you will encourage your
friends and colleagues to join you in your
support of the Nashville Celtics.
The Celtics have applied
for and been approved as an enrollee on
